Text SEO
The Search Engine spiders/bots/robots understand text. They don't index video, sound and image content because they are unable to make sense of the content of these mediums. It makes good SEO sense therefore to include a decent amount of relevant text on your Webpages even when the main content is video, sound or images. For example, a photography Website shouldn't just have images as the Bots won't understand the context and content of the images. The Website should include descriptive text as well as take advantage of the various meta-data sch as 'alt' and 'title' fields. Think of YouTube and Flickr; they both encourage categorization, adding tags as well as adding a title and description to your images or video (just don't try to hide text on your Website or use irrelevant text!).
Content SEO
Content is King! We have heard this many times yet still people ignore this absolutely vital SEO action. All the off-page SEO in the world won't help unless your Website has content that people want to read, view or hear. This means that your content must be of a quality that people want as well as include content that people are searching for on Bing, Yahoo, Google and the other Search Engines.
Frequency of adding content is also important for two reasons; the more content you have the more visitors you'll get and, in addition, the Search Engines often show more recent content higher on the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs).
Links SEO
The value of links/backlinks/inlinks is hotly debated. We know that links were the original reason for the success of Google however their importance has declined. Links are however still very important as they still act as an indicator of quality for Websites and they encourage the Search Engine bots to visit Sites that are linked to often.
Of course, the number of links alone that point to your Website aren't the only important linking factor; of equal significance is the anchor text and the quality of the Website that hyperlinks to your Site.
